Mr. Pernie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ferris State University in 2005 with an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and a reputation for excellence as a formal member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society. After graduation, he went on to receive his Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification and begin working out in the field as one of the Bloomfield Township Police Department’s road patrol officers – but even that wasn’t nearly enough. During his more than 10 years of service to his community as a police officer, where he was awarded two separate lifesaving awards, Eric Pernie also attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he was on the dean’s list for several years and had the honor of receiving the Jurisprudence Book Award in Michigan Criminal Practice before graduating in 2013.
